Uruguay is to South America as Switzerland is to Europe – neutral, quiet, welcoming and wonderfully hospitable. Noted for its agricultural green farmland interior and beachline Atlantic Coast, this is a nation which has long been overshadowed by its adjacent neighbours Argentina and Brazil. However to put what is the second smallest nation in South America into perspective, this is a country with 5 times more land than Holland with 5 times fewer inhabitants. The capital city of Montevideo which sits on the banks of the River Plate is vibrant and captivating and the coastal resort of Punta del Este is developing into a“must-see” resorts on a global scale. The food and especially the meat is on another level and the colonial nature of its cities is making it an emerging force of the list of “go to” places for international travellers.
